Six-time Copa Italia champion, Fiorentina has begun negotiations with Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers, ahead of a potential swoop this summer.
The Viola lost Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus in January, and they need a suitable replacement.
Fiorentina brought in Krzysztof Piatek on loan from Hertha Berlin, but the Polish striker only managed three goals in 14 appearances.
Piatek’s future is still in the balance, as Fiorentina is yet to meet Hertha Berlin’s €15 million evaluation of the striker.
However, the Viola may be looking for a cheaper option, and Voetbal Primeur reports that Fiorentina has opened talks with Dessers over a potential move this summer.
The 27-year-old raised eyebrows with his scintillating performances in the Europa Conference League, scoring 10 goals in 13 appearances.
Nonetheless, he has returned to Genk after Feyenoord revealed that they would not make his deal permanent, and Genk have not put a strong foot down as regards his significance to the team.
As such, the Limburgers could cash in on him, as Fiorentina has enough finances to pay Genk’s €4.5 million evaluation.
