The Federal Capital Territory Administration has invalidated the appointment of the Village Head of Dobi in Gwagwalada Area Council, Ismaila Iyah.
The Minister of State for the FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, in a statement on Sunday, signed by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Oluyinka Akintunde, said the appointment of the village head was irregular and did not follow the due process.
Akinjide directed the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri, to suspend forthwith the appointment of the village head of Dobi until further notice.
She said: “The FCT Administration wishes to reiterate that in all matters of appointment of District/Community Head, the Administration’s approval must be sought before such appointment is made by any Area Council.
“Consequently, based on this breach of procedure in the appointment of Village Head by the Gwagwalada Area Council, the appointment of the village head of Dobi is hereby invalidated until laid down procedures, rules and administrative processes as well as due process are complied with by the Area Council.”
The minister advised the Dobi Community in Gwagwalada Area Council and leaders to remain law abiding and peaceful until the appropriate procedure is adopted on the matter.
