The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, will on Tuesday swear-in the members of the caretaker committees across the 16 council areas in the state.
The names of those that would constitute the local government transition committees had been compiled and announced by the government.
Going through the names, it was observed that virtually all the members were returned with the exception of the former Caretaker Chairman in Oye Local Government Area, who was dropped and replaced with Oluwole Paul.
The newly inaugurated House of Assembly had on Friday performed its first legislative duty by acceding to Fayose’s request to dissolve the Councils, having stayed in office for the mandatory six months as stipulated by the constitution.
A letter dated June 5 and addressed to the Speaker, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, by Fayose asked for the Assembly’s nod for the reconstitution of the caretaker committees in consonance with the State Local Government Transition Law No 4 of 2002.
The letter was read on the floor of the House by the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Olatunji Akinyele. and was unanimously voted for when put to vote by Oluwawole.
