Fayemi plotting to use drivers’ union boss to cause mayhem during polls – PDP

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has berated the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, over his alleged insistence on retaining Rotimi Olanbiwonu, popularly known as Mentilo, as the state chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria.
According to a press statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday and signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, the PDP said it has uncovered that Fayemi plans to use Olanbiwonu to coordinate certain members of the drivers’ union to rig and cause mayhem during the forthcoming state governorship election.
Members of the union had kicked against Fayemi backing the appointment of Olambiwonu as the caretaker chairman after expiration of his tenure.
This has led to wild protests by the members.
Oluwawole, who equally implored the Inspector General of the Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, to intervene without delay, said this became necessary to burst any plan to prevent the smooth conduct of the election.
The party’s spokesman said that Olambiwonu has a pedigree of thuggery and violence, having been a tool used by the All Progressives Congress to unleash violence on the state in the past.
Oluwawole said because the APC knew it cannot win the coming election, it has re-strategised to cause mayhem so that the public would think that the PDP rigged the election.
He said this was informed by the noise being made by Fayemi and Femi Fani-Kayode that there will be turmoil in Ekiti State if PDP should rig out the APC.
