The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Friday turbaned former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, as the Tafida of Ilorin.
The event, held at the palace of the Emir in Ilorin, was graced by eminent personalities from different walks of life.
The immediate past Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; former Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed; and former Minister of Youths and Sports, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, led the pack of dignitaries that graced the event.
The emir said the Tafida of llorin was bestowed on Baraje in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the emirate.
The traditional ruler urged the new Tafida not to relent in contributing to the development of the emirate and beyond.
Responding, Baraje thanked the emir for finding him worthy of honour.
He expressed delight at the recognition of his modest contributions to the development of Ilorin, which he noted earned him the award.
He pledged to continue to impact on the community and the people of Ilorin.
Baraje was one of eminent indigenes of llorin bestowed with chieftaincy titles by the emir during the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir festival.
