Commercial activities were on Tuesday paralysed in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State following the blockage of several roads leading to the state.
A report also alleged that one person was killed.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that all the banks in the state capital and most shops were under lock and key.
Adeojo Taiwo, a civil servant, told NAN that he experienced hardship before getting to his place of work, adding that commercial and taxi drivers refused to work.
Taiwo described his experience as a sad one, attributing the development to the insistence of the 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose.
On the peaceful protest, Adeojo said that it was done in support of the governor.
He said the protest was not done by the civil servants alone but were joined by the market women and other lovers of peace in the state.
Modupe Adegboyega, an artisan, described Fayose as a man who was elected by the people of the state and who could only be removed by the same people.
She appealed to the aggrieved lawmakers to allow Fayose serve Ekiti State people without distraction and give peace a chance in the state.
Meanwhile, one Modupe Olaiya has allegedly been killed at Efon-Alaaye by the APC lawmakers, led by Dr. Adewale Omirin.
Thugs and armed policemen allegedly said to be in the bus conveying the lawmakers opened fire at the people at Efon-Alaaye junction on their way to Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.
The lawmakers were allegedly coming to Ado-Ekiti from a nearby state to carry out the impeachment of Fayose.
It was alleged that Hon. Gabriel Ogundele fired the shot that killed Modupe Olaiya.
The lawmakers convoy was said to have been blocked by angry youths and soldiers at Ita-Awure before they were ordered to return to where they were coming from.
