The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday paid tributes to four of its deceased officers and handed their terminal insurance benefits to their next of kins.
Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, who personally handed over the cheques of the benefits to the relations of the departed officers, expressed deep sadness over their death and assured them that the EFCC will continue to do its best to ensure that they did not die in vain.
Lamorde said: “We owe the families they left behind, our widow’s mite to help alleviate whatever hardship they may face over the loss of their loved ones.
“And beyond that, we owe it to their memory, and indeed to all Nigerians, to make sure that their deaths will not be in vain.”
The deceased officers are Alhassan Matthew, Nandir Daniel, Sunday Owai and Enoma Orishemola.
The benefits amounted to N34.4 million.
Matthew died on June 26, 2010, Daniel on July 27, 2010, Owai on October 2, 2010 and Orishemola on March 31, 2011.
