Eduok risks FIFA ban

Super Eagles’ forward, Emem Eduok, risks ban from the world football governing body, FIFA, following reports that he had signed for two different clubs.
The second highest goal scorer last season in the Nigeria Premier League is torn between Norwegian side, Sarpsborg 08, and Tunisian side, Esperance, with the former sending a petition to FIFA, alleging that Esperance are trying to deny them their right on the Nigeria international.
The Norwegian team, through its Sporting Director, Thomas Berntsen, has confirmed that the club signed Eduok from A&B Academy on a four-year deal and not from Dolphins, while Esperance, through a statement via the club’s website, read: “Last Wednesday we announced the transfer of the Nigerian Emem Samuel Eduok was prone to complications related to a third party.
“Things are now officially back to normal, following the signing by the player a contract in favor of our club (as confirmed by Laurasboxx) and he will be available to the team after his international commitments with the Nigerian national team.”
Although the media officer of Dolphins, China Acheru, in a tweet said the club was unaware the player is owned by A&B Academy.
Acheru tweeted: “Emem played for Akwa Starlets, then Akwa United and then Dolphins. Who the heck is A&B Academy?”
But Berntsen said he expects Eduok to resume with his side by January 18 after the Super Eagles games and if he failed to do so, they would be forced to take up the case with FIFA.
Already, Eduok has admitted signing the dotted lines for Sarpsborg but claimed he was not presented with the details of the contract he allegedly signed.
In a statement, Eduok admitted that he indeed signed for Sarpsborg.
He was however quick to submit that he never knew the contents of the agreement and blamed his agent, Bright Ogude of A&B Academy.
He said: “I went to Norway in December, an agent took me there. I cannot deny I signed a contract with Sarpsborg, but they did not meet Dolphins to ask for my clearance. How can they tell me I am not a player of Dolphins?
“They tried to get my ITC from the Nigeria Football Federation. NFF contacted Dolphins since I am their player and they said they did not know anything about the transfer.
“I later called the agent, Bright Ogude. I can’t involve myself in this. How can I play for Sarpsborg without an ITC?
“I never filled any form that I am a player of A&B Academy. Everything was done by my agent. I only signed the contract, which was written in English.”
According to report, Eduok may have backed out of the Norwegian deal due to the amount involved.
The move to Esperance was gathered is worth €300,000 while that of Sarpsborg is a four-year deal worth $150,000.
