Do justice to all Aregbesola, tells new acting CJ

The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has charged the new acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adebola Adepele Ojo, to promote substantive justice at all time.
Aregbesola, who made this call on Tuesday during the swearing in of the judge in Osogbo, said what people seek to do through the courts is to be in harmony with universal rules.
He stated that the quest for justice is the central pursuit of every man the world over, which is why the court has been described as a bulwark of the people.
The governor said if any place is peaceful and progressive, it is the enthronement of justice that goes unhindered in that environment.
He said: “I therefore charge the coming Acting Chief Judge to promote substantive justice over technicality.
“I charge her to let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.
“The judge, under oath, has pledged an affirmation of oneness with the universe in the pursuit of the universal purpose.
“With this oath, we expect the judge therefore to deliver justice, untainted and without inducement, in satisfaction of the universal purpose, in accordance with the laws of the land.
“It is a universal principle, and scientifically established, that the amount of peace, tranquility and prosperity in a place is directly proportional to the justice obtained in that society.”
Aregbesola averred that one of the primary reasons why there are so many problems in the country is the absence of justice.
He noted that every citizen has a role to play in the administration of justice and so everybody must fervently work for the enthronement of justice wherever they are.
He said: “One of the reasons there are so much problems in this country is because there is so much injustice in the land, including electoral injustice.
“We must all work for the enthronement of justice in the land.”
He added that the need to promote justice is very paramount to his administration because he is a direct beneficiary of justice in it undiluted form.
He continued: “I will not cease to let people know that I am a beneficiary of justice.
“I am here today directing the affairs of our state for the past two years, with the progress we have achieved, by the grace of God, because justice came our way from the God-fearing judges of the Ibadan Court of Appeal.
“Why then wont I promote justice?
“If justice is good for me, it is also good for others.
“There is a way, however, that we all have roles to play in the administration of justice.
“In our little corner, we must strive to enthrone justice and eschew all forms of injustice.”
Aregbesola described Justice Ojo as a God-fearing judge, who has paid her dues in the state’s judiciary.
He said he has no doubt that she will discharge her duties creditably well and promote justice in the land.
The governor warned that those who took oath and have no regard for justice would reap the fruit of perverting the course of justice.
The new Acting Chief Judge, in her response, pledged to do all within her capacity to dispense justice in the state at all time.
Justice Ojo also called for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the administration of justice in the state.
The new acting CJ stated: “The task before us is to remain steadfast on the path of justice.
“I pledge to all the people of the state that with the oath that I took, I will promote justice and equality.
“I want all the lovers of justice support and cooperate with me so that we can all succeed in the enthronement of justice in the state.”
