The Publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, on Monday reacted, though not directly, to the tirade against him by popular musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, in the case of his baby mama, Sophia, who is Momodu’s cousin.
Davido had on Sunday in a lengthy piece accused Momodu of instigating the crisis that led to the stoppage of the travel of his daughter with Sophia, Imade.
Immigration personnel had based on a complaint by Sophia stopped Imade from embarking on a journey with the Adeleke family to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
As the altercation on the social media was going on, so also was there confrontation among the two families on Monday at the Ikeja, Lagos State office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
Momodu, reacting to the development on his Twitter handle, tweeted: “Good morning Africa! Thanks to all the journalists calling to ask my side of the raging story but I can’t talk because lawyers are involved.
“It is also pertinent to establish the rule of law rather than brigandage but we shall soon know the king of cannabis in Nigeria!
“The rich and powerful always think they can get away with anything but under a CHANGE government we shall test the laws protecting the weak!
“No one is fighting anyone, we are fighting oppression after exhausting all reasonable options; enjoy your week.”
At the NAPTIP office, Momodu led a team made up of himself; his wife Bolaji; the controversial Sophia Momodu; and some lawyers.
On the other side were Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke; a friend of the family, Dr. Wale Adeeyo; and the family’s lawyers.
Sophia’s lawyer, Gbolaga Ajayi of S.O. Ajayi & Co, had filed a petition before NAPTIP alleging attempts by the Adeleke family to smuggle Imade out of Nigeria.
However, the meeting did not end conclusively as Dr. Adeleke, who was heard shouting on top of his voice, stormed out of the meeting shortly after it started at about 11.25am.
Sources at NAPTIP said they were considering the next line of action.
