Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has reacted to the judgement delivered Friday by an Abuja Appeal Court upturning the March 8 judgment by Justice Inyang Ekwo purportedly sacking him and his deputy for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Chooks Oko, which was made available to journalists Friday in Abakaliki, Umahi described the judgement of the three-man panel of the appellate court as a solid defense of Nigeria constitution.
He observed with contentment that the Court of Appeal has by the pronouncement, proven once again, that the Nation’s Judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.
Umahi said: “The judgement is a sound juridical articulation which reinforces the provisions of the Nation’s Constitution in matters relating to defection.”
While commending the panel led by Justice Haruna Tsanami, Umahi emphasized that the judgement has further strengthened his avowed commitment to continue offering his best to the State, assuring that no amount of distraction could derail him.
“I dedicate this latest victory, first, to God, and to all Ebonyians and lovers of justice across the Country”, Umahi enthused.
