The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, on Thursday renewed old ties with the Nigerian Customs Service.
The partnership is aimed at synergizing with the Nigerian Customs Service in tackling border crimes and advancing the capacity of NCS in realizing its core mandate.
The relationship became fruitful when the Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Colonel Hameed Ali, paid a courtesy call on Nigeria Police leadership in Abuja.
Ali, who was at the Force Headquarters with other senior officers of the Service, used the occasion not only to renew their relationship, but also to seek police partnership in the area of information sharing, tackling border-related crimes, smuggling and ways to improve on the revenue capacity drive of the Customs.
In his response, Arase promised to improve on the existing level of intelligence sharing with the Customs and to extend training opportunities to personnel of the Nigerian Customs Service towards building the capacity of Customs personnel as they strive to attain their mandate.
