Cool/Wazobia FM presenter regains freedom

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of Anthony Akatakpo, a staff of Cool/Wazobia FM station, Port Harcourt.
Akatakpo, a presenter with the station, was shot in the leg and abducted on March 13 in Port Harcourt.
Grace Iringe-Koko, ASP and spokesperson of the command, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Thursday that Akatakpo was picked up in the early hours of Thursday.
Iringe-Koko said the police was not aware if any ransom was paid for his release and that the presenter had been handed over to his family.
Candy Akatakpo, wife of Anthony, also told NAN that her husband had been freed by her captors.
Candy said: “I am happy to inform you that my husband, Anthony Akatakpo, alias Akas Baba, has regained his freedom.
“The police picked him up at 1am today from an undisclosed location and we are happy to have him back.”
Candy also said the bullet, which hit her husband’s leg, did not pierce the bone.
She said: “The bullet only touched the flesh and did not hit his bone.
“We thank God for that.
“He has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
“We thank God for his mercies.”
