Contracts awards, new visa policy top FEC agenda

The awards of several contracts and the implementation of Nigeria’s new visa policy top the agenda of the Federal Executive Council this week.

The weekly FEC meeting, which holds on Wednesday, will consider the award of contracts for several roads and bridges across the country.
Among roads up for consideration by the FEC are Auchi Poly-Ekperi-Uzea-Ohe Road and the construction of a pedestrian bridge at the entrance of Auchi Polytechnic gate.
The projects are in Edo State.
The contracts for the rehabilitation of the Funtua-Sokoto-Gusau Road and the Sokoto-Talata Mafara Road will be considered for augmentation, that is an increase in the contract cost.
For Kano and Jigawa States, the contract for the construction of the Wudil-Utai-Achika-Darki-Jigaware Road will be considered.
There will also be the consideration of the resuscitation of the contract for the construction of the Utor Bridge along Asaba-Uromi Road in the Edo and Delta State axis by the FEC.
A contract for the installation of image reader for the National Examinations Council is also to be considered by the FEC and also the supply of radiation and explosive devices.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is to re-present his anticipatory approval of contracts for the Niger Delta Development Commission for discussion and ratification.
The presentation was listed for discussion last week.
Last on the list of issues for discussion at Wednesday’s FEC meeting is the implementation of the new visa guidelines approved for the country by the FEC.
