Antonio Conte believes Victor Moses is very important to Chelsea’s success this season after he scored the winner in the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Tottenham.
Speaking to BT Sport immediately after the fixture, the Italian also explained how the Nigerian caught his eye during pre-season training.
Moses has enjoyed a meteoric rise in form this season after failing to nail down first team places during three loan moves.
The Chelsea winger was first sent to Liverpool, where he made 19 appearances, before heading to Stoke City and then across London to West Ham.
The Hammers had the option of signing the Nigerian permanently at the start of this season, but decided against the offer and Moses returned to Chelsea.
The 25-year-old was expected to disappear off the map at Stamford Bridge, but knuckled down and caught the eye of his new boss.
Moses was then used in Conte’s preferred system with three in defence, fitted into it seamlessly as a wing-back, and is now going from strength to strength.
Last time out he even got himself on the score sheet to ensure a win over rivals Tottenham and a place at the top of the Premier League table.
Discussing Moses, Conte said: “Victor is a good player. I saw him during the pre-season and I wanted to keep him in the squad.”
The Italian concludes: “I think he’s playing fantastic football for us and he is very important.”
