The Spanish coach, Vincent del Bosque, like his Uruguayan counterpart, was full of praise for the Super Eagles, saying the players showed a lot of dynamism and purpose.
Bosque admitted the 3-0 did not really reflect the trend of the game and that the Nigerian side was unlucky not to have scored, especially in the first half.
He said: “It was a difficult match.
“Nigeria was very difficult and should have scored.
“They had their chances unfortunately for them did not score.
“They tried to control the midfield, we were able to break them and were able to score.
“We tried to strike a balance between attacking and defending and that helped us.”
On his defender, Jordi Alba, scoring a brace, he said it was because of the strategy he employed in balancing defence with attack.
He said: “I told the defenders to also strike when the opportunity comes and that was why Alba was able to score.
“In the second half we played better and read the match that the Nigerians could overshoot, they can sometimes lose concentration.”
The brace scorer, Jodi Alba, also praised the fighting spirit of the Super Eagles, saying they made things difficult for Spain.
