The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities has appointed Emeritus Prof. Nimi Briggs, who is the Pro-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, as their new Chairman.
This was disclosed by Prof. Yakubu Ochefu, Secretary-General, Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday after a meeting with its members on September 20, Ochefu said Briggs would take over from Prof. Munzali Jubril, Pro-Chancellor of Federal University, Lafia, who had been the Chairman since 2017.
He added that his appointment was for a term of four years.
He said at the meeting, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu was also appointed the Deputy Chairman of the committee.
According to him, Dalhatu is the current Chairman of Council and Pro-Chancellor of Moddibo Adama University, Yola.
He, therefore, wished the two leaders of the committee success as they take over the mantle of leadership.
