The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Dr. Majekodunmi Ayodele, on Thursday denied ever accusing indigenes of the host community of being behind the kidnap of a nurse working with the hospital, Margaret Aladenika.
Ayodele, who warned against peddling such rumour, said it could create bad blood between the hospital and the people of the host community.
Speaking in an interview with journalists in Ido Ekiti, he described such rumour as dangerous and capable of causing crisis in the town.
The CMD was reacting to the rumour making the round that members of staff of the hospital had the impression that the indigenes of the town plotted Aladenika’s abduction when she was travelling with her husband along Ido-Ipere-Iludun Road about three weeks ago by unknown gunmen.
She had however regained her freedom alongside other kidnapped victims in a forest at Esure Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.
Ayodele said: “The erroneous belief that the Ido Ekiti community knew about the kidnapping is obviously not true because the abductors seem not to be part of this community.
“I mean Ido Ekiti.
“We do not want the public to have the impression that we were behind such allegation.
“We cannot afford to be at loggerheads with a town that has given us so much in terms of comfort and cooperation as the host town.”
