The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced investigations into alleged rape video purportedly depicting students of Chrisland School Lagos, going viral on social media.
The Command made the confirmation in a statement signed Monday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin disclosed that the investigations was meant to unveil the identities of the players in the video, the true incident in the video, the geographical location of the incident, the alleged threat to life against a student of the school and circumstances surrounding the alleged repeated pregnancy tests conducted on a student without parental consent.
Similarly, the statement stated that the Command was taking cognizance of the cybercrime angle to the whole episode and would not hesitate to enlist the support of the Interpol should the need arise.
“For a holistic and unbiased investigation, the Command shall be working with relevant ministries, departments, agencies and non-governmental organizations” the State’s police assured.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, has assured that due diligence would be observed to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice.
Earlier, The Eagleonline has reported that the Lagos State Government has ordered the closure of the popular private school.
The order was contained in a statement issued Monday, following the revelation of rape of a 10-year-old pupil of the school.
Available information had it that, the incident occurred in Dubai, United Arab Emirates during an excursion for the students.
