Following the intervention of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, the protracted industrial impasse between Chevron Nigeria Limited and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has been resolved.
Chevron, in a letter to Wogu, affirmed and appreciated the intervention and contributions of the minister to the resolution of the strained industrial relations between the organisation and PENGASSAN.
The letter reads in part: “We thank you for your prompt intervention and contributions in the resolution of the protracted industrial relations issues. Your commitment, advice, resilience and professionalism in handling the engagement in your office, assisted in no small measure in resolving the issues in-house, we wish to inform you that after several engagements with our Chevron Branch and the National Executives of PENGASSAN, all industrial relations issues have been resolved.”
It could be recalled that PENGASSAN had earlier picketed all facilities of Chevron Nigeria Limited nationwide, which led to the conciliatory meeting from January 22 to 24, 2013 in the office of the minister.
The 13-point issues, which led to the industrial action by PENGASSAN, has been resolved, as contained in a communiqué signed by I. Onyearugha, the Director of Human Resources and Medical for Chevron Nigeria Limited; and Comrade Adamu Umoru, the Deputy President of PENGASSAN among others.
“All the issues listed in the communiqué are considered resolved and closed forthwith and supersede all previous resolutions on these issues.
“This is without prejudice on any issue considered as on-going in this communiqué.”
