President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Super Eagles on the spectacular 2-1 win over Angola in Championship of African Nations quarter finals in Morocco.
Buhari’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Sunday.
The presidential aide said Buhari, who watched the match in his hotel room in Addis Ababa after a long day of meetings, which started at 8am and ended at 5.30pm, wished them “the very best for the upcoming matches”.
Nigeria’s home based Eagles, known as CHAN Eagles, scaled through to the semifinals after beating Angola 2-1.
Anthony Okpotu came from behind in the 90th minute to keep hope alive with his equaliser, while Gabriel Okechukwu sealed the win in the 109th minute of the 120 minutes encounter.
