“We did not write any mail asking athletes to pay their way to Rio. As the overseers of sports in the country, it is our duty to take care of all our athletes. The letter did not come from us and we will investigate the writer of that letter. It does not represent our stand concerning the movement of athletes to Rio and the writer or anybody asking athletes to buy their tickets to Rio will be investigated. We ask Nigerians and athletes in particular to disregard the mail,” Dalung said

“The management and the government have been solidly behind us and winning the trophy will be our reward for their support so far,” he said.
He recalled that the club missed the league trophy in 2013/2014 to Kano Pillars, adding that the players had learnt from their past mistakes

Peterside, who was reacting against the backdrop of Wike’s outburst against the Nigerian Police Force and the person of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, said that it is unbecoming of Wike to arrogate to himself the powers to determine and decide which officer should be posted to Rivers State or any other state for that matter
