Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Champions League, Kano Pillars, defeated their Al Malaika counterparts two nil in the first leg of the preliminary round of the competition.
Home Eagles’ Gambo Mohammed and Christian Obiozor supplied the goals to ensure victory for the Nigerian League champions.
The first half saw Pillars dominating possession, but they lacked the cutting edge to score.
In the second half, Okey Emordi’s team bombarded the minnows and got two well taken goals.
Mohammed opened the scoring in the 46th minute to hand Pillars a needed advantage.
Masu Gida then made it 2-0 through Christian Obiozor midway through the second half to boost their hopes of progressing to the next round.
