CAF appoints refs for continental matches

The Confederation of African football has appointed officials that will handle their matches for this weekend’s CAF Champions league and CAF Confederation Cup matches.
In a related development, the Nigeria Football Federation Consultant on refereeing matters and FIFA Advisor on referees, Linus Mba, has been appointed as Match Commissioner for the return leg of the Confederations Cup match between US Bougouni of Mali and Recreativo Da Caala of Angola, coming up in Mali on April 7.
Kano Pillars, who in AC Leopards have by far the toughest of all opponents, have been handed Morrocan referees and a Match Commissioner, Fred Crentsil, of Ghana.
The referees, Redouane Jihed, Rouari Bouazzi, El Meheaji Adbelazziz and Tiazi Hicham, are expected in Lagos via Royal Air Maroc Airline.
It will be recalled that AC Leopards arethe current Confederations Cup champions.
In the return leg, Pillars will have referees from Cote Divoire, with a Camerounian Match Commissioner.
The nation’s other entrant, Rangers International are away to Vitalo club with Lesotho officials and a Central African Match Commissioner.
In the return leg in two weeks time, Algerian referees, led by Haimoudi Djamel, will officiate, with Andy Quamie of Liberia, as Match Commissioner.
In the CAF Confederations Cup, Heartland will host US Bitam of Gabon with referees from Liberia while the popular and former chairman of the Ghanaian Football Association, Alhaji Jawula, is the match Commissioner.
Lobi Stars of Makurdi are also at home against Liga Muculmana of Mozambique with Benin referees while Abdoulkadri Boube of Niger is match commissioner.
Also, Nigerian referees Ogaounya Modi Henry, Peter Edibi, Usman Issah and Amao Joshua have been appointed to handle the return leg of the fixture between Mochi C. Chiefs of Botswana and T.P.Mazembe, which will hold in Lubumbashi.
