CACOL says Buhari’s return will boost anti-graft war

President Muhammadu Buhari’s safe return to Nigeria will boost governance and give fillip to the government’s anti-corruption fight, an NGO, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, said on Saturday.
Buhari arrived in Abuja on Saturday evening after several months of medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
Debo Adeniran, CACOL’s Chairman, who expressed the delight at the President’s return, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that it would end all the controversies about his state of health.
Adeniran said: “We are so happy that the President is back.
“We are happy that he has returned safely to continue with the business of governance.
“We are also happy because his return would put an end to all the controversies and concerns about his medical vacation abroad.
“We believe his return will be a boost to the anti-corruption fight as corrupt elements will now have to tread with caution due to Buhari’s hard stance on corruption.
“We also believe all pending corruption related issues awaiting his approval for action will be adequately responded to with his return.
“We commend the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, for doing a good job while the President was away.”
Adeniran expressed the hope that the wheel of governance would be accelerated while all pending issues would be attended to.
He urged Buhari not to delay in taking steps for impactful governance.
The CACOL’s chairman stressed the need for the recovery of the nation’s stolen monies just as the body pledged its support for the anti-graft war.
Also speaking, the Chairman of New Nigeria Progressive Party, Malam Shakirudeen Olofin, described Buhari’s return as a welcome development.
He described the news as the biggest news in August and said every Nigerian who shared in the president’s return was glad about it.
Olofin said: “It is the best news in the month of August, we welcome him back, we thank Allah for returning him safely.
“The nation heartbeat is back and positive movement will be observed throughout the length and breadth of the nation and the wheel of progress is back.
“We all rejoice.”
Olofin, however, urged all Nigerians to continue to pray for the president’s full recovery to be able to deliver the goods.
Also, a Lagos resident, Mukail Ajani, told NAN: “I am glad that the president is back although the news came to me as a rumour.
“Buhari’s return will add more vigour to governance and end the tension and controversies in the country.”
