Breaking News: CCT rejects Saraki’s move to stop trial, prosecution calls first witness

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has rejected a fresh move by the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to stop his trial.
The Tribunal ruled on Tuesday that despite a suit filed at the Court of Appeal by Saraki questioning its ruling on the trial, there was no need to adjourn the case as demanded by the defence team.
The defence team, led by Paul Usoro (SAN), standing in for Kanu Agabi (SAN), had sought an adjournment of the trial pending the outcome of the suit at the Court of Appeal.
But the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, said he was not willing to accommodate such request.
Umar thus told the prosecution to call its first witness.
