Members of the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday engaged themselves in physical combat over issues pertaining to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The lawmakers last week began the consideration of a petition against the monarch.
This is coming after a court ordered the probe of Sanusi stopped by the Kano State Anti-Corruption Agency.
Fight broke out at the Assembly on Monday when the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Public Complaints and Petition Committee, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, raised an observation over the ongoing investigation of petitions of alleged violation of the culture, tradition and religious values of the people of Kano by Emir Sanusi.
Chidari was instantly opposed by members of the Assembly said to belong to the Peoples Democratic Party.
In the process, a heated argument ensued, which resulted into a physical combat as the opposition members struggled to take control of the mace.
The mace was swiftly taken away by security men and the Sergeant-at-Arms.
