The Kano State Government has dethroned the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The dethronement of the Emir was approved by the Kano State Executive council, led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
The Director-General, Media and Communications to the Kano State Government, Salihu Yakasai, announced the dethronement on his Twitter handle: @Dawisu, on Monday.
Yakassai tweeted: “The Kano State Executive Council has unanimously approved the dethronement of the Emir of Kamo Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II at a special sitting held today by the council.”
The move comes just as members of the Kano State House of Assembly engaged themselves in fisticuffs over the probe of the Emir by the Assembly.
Sanusi was crowned in 2014 as Emir after the death of his granduncle. Ado Bayero.
