Biafra agitators hijack ship, threaten to kill foreign crew over Kanu’s continued detention

Members of the Independent Peoples of Biafra are believed to be behind the hijack of a merchant ship and they have threatened to blow it up with its foreign crew if authorities do not release their leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
IPOB is agitating for a Sovereign State of Biafra.
Kanu has been in detention since October last year when he was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services.
The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, confirmed the hijacking of the ship.
Abubakar said the ship was hijacked on Friday.
He, however, did not disclose the name of the ship.
The IPOB members are believed to be working with some Niger Delta militants.
