Players and officials of the Nigeria Professional Football League side, Nembe City FC, on Thursday received N200,000 cash reward.
An indigene of Nembe City and Commissioner for Energy, Bayelsa State, Barrister Francis lkio, doled out the money to the team after their match against Enyimba.
According to the General Manager of the newly promoted side, Meremu Okara, Ikio said he was happy with the performance of the team.
Ikio was quoted as saying: “You have made us proud.
“We the people of Nembe City are ready to support the team because people now hear of the town everywhere.
“As you play on Sunday against El-Kanemi, we will do more.
“So on behalf of myself and people of Nembe City, I am giving you N200,000 and come Sunday, you will get more.”
The President of Nembe City FC, Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, thanked the commissioner for the support and promised that on Sunday the team will do their best to get the full points.
