Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is conscious in hospital after having to leave the Nou Camp in an ambulance following a head-to-head collision with teammate Gavi.
Araujo will now undergo further testing as the defender suffered a concussion.
The La Liga match between Barcelona and Celta Vigo was halted as an ambulance had to come onto the Nou Camp pitch for Araujo to be treated.
His Barcelona teammates looked concerned as he was taken away in an ambulance.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said of the incident: “When something like that happens, we are all a bit scared.
“That is normal.
“But he is in hospital now.
“The club say he had a concussion and I hope all is good for him.”
Araujo, who was replaced by fellow central defender Clement Lenglet in the 68th minute, collided with Gavi during a second-half aerial duel.
The Uruguay international initially stayed on his feet but then collapsed to the ground as he was jogging back towards his own goal.
Second-placed Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 3-1 thanks to an opener by Memphis Depay and a double by Aubameyang.
Iago Aspas pulled one back for the visitors before Celta’s Jeison Murillo saw red for bringing down Depay.
Araujo, who made his Barcelona debut in October 2019, has appeared in 29 of his side’s 36 league games so far this season.
He has been capped nine times by Uruguay.
