To underscore the importance of Sunday’s African championship qualifier against Tanzania in Dar Salam, the Flying Eagles are unleashing a full arsenal of eight foreign-based professionals to compliment the home-based players.
Speaking shortly before jetting out of the country, Assistant Coach Fancy Ewulu, said: “We realise the importance of the match, hence we are not ready to take anything for granted.
“We invited at least eight foreign-based professionals to compliment the efforts of the home based players.
“The team is highly motivated for the encounter.
“Apart from Promise, who was not released by his club, all the players invited came and are ready to do the country proud.”
Ewulu disclosed that the loss to Benin Republic in a friendly will inspire the team to win.
He said: “The loss to Benin Republic was an eye opener.
“It made us realise that we have weaknesses, which must be taken care of during the game.
“We cannot underrate our host because they are no pushovers.
“They eliminated Kenya, while we drew by.
“So, we are going into the game with the mindset to win.
“In fact, we have the password to defeat them at home.
“This is one of the most motivated team, so we have no excuse to fail.”
The Garba Manu-led team will take to the pitch today at 2pm Nigerian time.
