Still basking from the euphoria of their progression to the knock out stage, the tournament favourites, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, are already looking beyond the semi final stage of the ongoing 8th African Women Championship.
The Cup holders are billed to clash with the Banyana Banyana on Wednesday in the second semi final billed for Bata while host, Equatorial Guinea, will entertain Cameroon’s Lionesses at the Malabo Stadium in the first semi final on the same day.
Coach of the Nigerian side, Kadiri Ikhana, on Monday dismissed any threat from Bayana Bayana, saying that no team can stop his side from achieving the set goal of lifting the cup again.
Super Falcons won all their group games to emerge group winners with nine points ahead of second placed Cameroon.
Ikhana said: “We are ready for any team at this Championship.
“My girls are highly motivated with the Nigeria Football Federation having fulfilled the pledge to improve their win-bonuses.
“They love it and they are rearing to go.”
The final match of the African Women Championship comes up in Malabo next Sunday.
Since the launch of the African Women Championship in 1998, the Falcons have won six of seven tournaments till date, with the only 2008 edition hosted by Equatorial Guinea eluding them.
