Borussia Dortmund has given Arsenal clearance to conduct Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s medical ahead of his impending £60 million transfer, according to reports.
The Gabon international was filmed leaving Dortmund airport on Tuesday morning after both clubs agreed a fee following a fortnight of intense negotiations.
The Bundesliga club were reportedly unwilling to sanction the 28-year-old’s departure until a suitable replacement had been secured, but appear to have softened their stance. Aubameyang arrived at Arsenal’s London Colney training centre on Tuesday afternoon where, according to the BBC, he will undergo a medical examination before completing the formalities of a move.
Dortmund had proposed the idea of taking Olivier Giroud on loan, but the France international is reportedly not interested in uprooting to Germany and would prefer a move to Chelsea, with whom he is said to have already agreed terms.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are in action against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium this evening and have until 11pm on Wednesday to complete a deal that would see Aubameyang overtake Alexandre Lacazette as the club’s record signing.
