Association Sportive Des Employes de Commerce Mimosas have revealed that former General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, was not the agent of Nigeria U-20 star, Kayode Olanrewaju, and as such could not understand why he (Ogunjobi) has been dragged into the dispute between the club and the player.
In a document sent to Barrister Chris Green, the Chairman of the Technical and Development Committee of the NFF, ASEC emphatically declared that Ogunjobi did not sign any of the documents that tied Kayode to the club.
“The signatories of this (contractual) amendment are the player, Kayode Olanrewaju, and the president of ASEC Mimosas, Mr. Roger Quegnin. M.r Taiwo Ogunjobi is not a signatory of the document and was not present at the signing ceremony between the player and his club,” wrote ASEC, adding that Olanrewaju signed without using the services of any FIFA licensed agent.
“ASEC Mimosas has no contractual relationship with Mr. Taiwo Ogunjobi and we put it in the contract at the request of the player,” further wrote ASEC and denied that Ogunjobi has collected some money on behalf of the player.
“As at today (September 4, 2013 when the letter was written) Mr. Taiwo Ogunjobi didn’t receive any amount from ASEC Mimosas for the player Kayode Olanrewaju. These funds are available for the player in Abidjan. However, as noted in our letters to the player, his absence from the club after the abrupt end of his loan deal at FC Lucerne (17/09/2012), has forced us to sanction him by fining him 75,000 FCFA per day as stipulated in the rules of the ASEC Mimosas. To date, the player is indebted to the club. This is outside the damages that we will ask FIFA timely.”
It was gathered that the NFF investigative committee ignored the report from ASEC Mimosas under the pretext that it was not routed through the Ivorian Football Federation.
The committee subsequently slammed a 10-year ban on Ogunjobi from all football activities.
