Army authorities have disowned a report on a mysterious beast purportedly killed in Ebonyi on Monday evening by operatives of Operation Whirl Stroke, saying it is fake and did not originate from the Defence Headquarters.
A statement had circulated on social media, signed by a certain AVM AY Maigida on behalf of the Defence Headquarters, saying that operatives acting on tip-off by locals went after and shot down a mysterious beast that had a canine head and human body.
The beast was even confirmed to have killed four locals before it was neutralized, according to the statement.
But a counter-statement by the army authorities said “the press release and video making rounds on social media of a mysterious beast with human body killed by troops of Operation Whirl Stroke is fake.
“The original video is from a Portuguese film ‘Lobisomem Morto a Tiros. Please, disregard this video.”
It directed the public to follow the official social media platforms defencehq.mil.ng, defenceinfo.mil.ng and the Facebook page @ Defence Headquarters Nigeria, and Instagram: @defencehq.
