The Supreme Court on Thursday fixed March 24, 2015 for a definite hearing on the All Progressives Grand Alliance leadership dispute between Chief Maxi Okwu and Chief Victor Umeh.
Garba Powl (SAN), who represented Chief Okwu and all those elected with him at the party’s national convention held on April 8, 2013, had filed a motion for accelerated hearing, abridgement of time for filing it and prayer directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to accept Okwu’s candidates for the 2015 general election.
However, Powl withdrew the prayer that the court should direct INEC to accept Okwu’s candidates.
Counsel to Umeh and Sani Shinkafi’s lawyer, Patrick Ikwueto (SAN), did not oppose the withdrawal.
The court granted the prayer for accelerated hearing and abridgement of time and slated hearing to March 24.
