APC: Two executive committees emerge in Sokoto

Two state executive committees have emerged for the All Progressives Congress in Sokoto State.
The two executive committees emerged in a space of about 24 hours.
The SEC, named by the state Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, was the first to emerge.
The SEC is believed to have the backing of the Interim National Executive Committee.
But barely 24 hours after this, a former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, also named his faction’s SEC.
A statement by the Secretary of the Bafarawa-led SEC, Lawal Tukur Faru, said that members were drawn from the political parties that merged to form the APC.
The political parties that formed the APC were the Action Congress of Nigeria, the All Nigeria Peoples Party, the Congress for Progressives Change and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Faru said in the statement: “After due consultations with stakeholders of all our merging parties that include All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Sokoto state, His Excellency, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, APC leader has approved the constitution of the Sokoto state Interim Executive Committee of our great party as per the harmonization of our legacy parties are concern.”
Those in the SEC include Hon. Abubakar Saddiq Sanyinna (ANPP) as chairman; Lawal Tukur Faru, Secretary (CPC); Nasiru Kalanbaina (ACN), Treasurer; Yusuf Dingyadi (ANPP), Publicity Secretary; and Nasiru B. Asara (CPC), Organizing Secretary.
But the Interim National Executive Committee had in a letter with reference number APC/NHDQ/GEN/24/013/82 dated January 7, 2014, signed by the Interim National Secretary, Tijjani Musa Tumsah, approved Wamakko’s request to nominate members of the SEC to be headed by a former Minister of Youths, Inuwa Abdulkadir.
Tumsah said in the letter: “I write to acknowledge receipt of your Excellency’s nominees for Sokoto State Interim Executive Committee (IEC) with Barr. Inuwa Abdulkadir Esq as Chairman.
“I encourage your Excellency to consult and also select members to fill in the remaining Offices of Secretary, Treasurer, Organising Secretary, Publicity Secretary; taking into consideration the other merging parties.”
