The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has said that the economic integration of the South West would only be achieved if the states in the region do not introduce party boundaries into the agenda setting.
Mimiko, in a statement by the state’ Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said: “We are of the opinion that there must be economic integration of the South-West but the issue of one political party dominating the zone is a fallacy.
“It is a fallacy to say that the economic integration of the region must depend on a political party.
“I want to tell you that today that Labour Party is redefining progressivism.
“What we are doing in this state is an empirical evidence of what progressivism is all about.
“We are the economic and intellectual power house of the South-West. Our cocoa has done the wonders in the region.
“The people of the state will determine who will lead them.”
Mimiko, who spoke when the former chairmen of the local government areas in the state paid him a visit, commended the ex-council bosses for raising the benchmark in local government administration in the state.
The coordinator of the former council bosses, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, said their 26-month tenure in office brought succour to the lives of their people and added value to governance at the grass roots.
