Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, representing Kwara South Senatorial District, on Tuesday declared to recontest for the seat in the 2019 election.
Ibrahim, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, made this known on his Twitter handle in the early hours of Tuesday.
He said the people of the senatorial district compelled him to return to the Senate.
He tweeted: “The journey we started in 2015 is apparently a long walk to, first, bringing dividends of democracy to the people of #KwaraSouth. On what we’ve achieved, so far, the facts are there. However, our destination is still thousands of miles.
“The general elections are here already. With declarations hitting us from all sides, my people have ascertained their position and they’ve echoed it very loudly to my hearing: ‘We want you to continue the unprecedented good work.'”
