The Peoples Democratic Party has named a former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, as head of a 10-man committee to screen its presidential aspirants ahead of the emergence of a candidate.
The party named the committee members on Thursday night.
Other members of the committee include the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; a former President of the Senate, Iyorcha Ayu; Chief Tom Ikimi; Chief Okwesikizie Nwodo; and Hajia Ina Ciroma.
Others are Kema Chikwe; Dr. Haliru Bello; Chief Ebenezer Babatope; and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel.
Those to be screened include a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; a former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki (SAN); Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; a former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa; and a former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido.
Others are President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; a former President of the Senate, David Mark; a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jona Jang; a former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed; and Usifo Stanley.
The party also named a 25-member appeal panel in the case of a disagreement on the screening by any of the aspirants.
The National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, is the head of the appeal panel.
