Amosun’s wife holds solidarity walk for Chikbok girls

One year after the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, the wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Olufunso Amosun, has appealed to the Federal Government to speed up action and ensure the safe return of the girls and reunite them with their parents.

Staging a solidarity walk for the safe return of the Chibok schoolgirls from the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto to the Governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Amosun said there was the need for concerted efforts by government, security agents and all Nigerians for the release of the over 200 girls who were abducted by Boko Haram last year.

According to her: “The good people of Ogun State raise our voices once again to God in solidarity for the return of our Chibok schoolgirls and we believe there shall be positive change in Nigeria and miraculous release of our girls.

“We are gathered once again here to identify and join other Nigerians and the whole world in solidarity walk to intercede, plead and pray to God for the forgiveness of our sins and ask for wisdom for our government and leaders to be able to design the right path for the return of our girls.”

Amosun presented a letter of solidarity for the return of the girls to the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Barrister Taiwo Ade-Oluwa, who received it on behalf of the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for delivery to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Also speaking, the Deputy Governor-elect, Yetunde Onanuga, expressed her concern on the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls and thanked the First Lady for all her good works, particularly in the solidarity for the return of the Chibok girls.

Onanuga prayed that the Almighty God would grant our heart desires concerning the girls.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Elizabeth Sonubi, urged the Federal Government to do all it could to bring back the girls and reconcile them to their parents.

Sonubi added: “We are all saying no to domestic and physical violence against women, the girl-child and even men.”
