Governor Godwills Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has appointed Christopher Stephen, otherwise known as Mista X, as a member of the Arts and Culture Board of the Ministry of Tourism in the state.
The top artiste, who sings contemporary African music, was chosen among several others based on his impressive exploits in the Nigeria music industry over the years.
Another top artiste, Helen Ukpabio, was commissioner in the state cabinet until last week.
Stephen, a versatile artiste, has been charged with the responsibility of running the day to day activities of the parastatal simply to pep up the state tourists centres, which is one of the best in the country.
Speaking with Stephen after the appointment, he said he is overwhelmed by the appointment and he would perform beyond expectation in the ministry.
“The sky is the limit for me and my able governor will not regret appointing me on the board,” he concluded.
