AIG Zone 5 decorates 36 newly-promoted senior officers

No fewer than 36 newly-promoted senior police officers in zone 5 police headquarters, Benin, were on Thursday decorated with their new ranks by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Rasheed Akintunde.
Akintunde said during the occasion that those being decorated included two Superintendents of Police that were promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police.
He said others were seven Deputy Superintendents of Police promoted to the rank Superintendent of Police and eight Assistant Superintendents of Police promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police.
He also said that 19 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
While congratulating the promoted officers, the AIG urged them to reciprocate the gesture through continued dedication to work, discipline and loyalty.
He said: “Once again, let me remind you that your promotion came at the right time, considering the prevalent security challenges facing our dear country.
“I, therefore, urge you to redouble your efforts for the task ahead, and I also use this medium to express gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the Police Service Commission for finding it worthy to approve your promotions.”
NAN reports that the promoted officers were part of the 11,962 police officers recently promoted nationwide.
Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, CSP Lucky Adagbon said they would redouble their efforts in crime fighting and prevention.
Adagbon said promotion was an additional responsibility and thanked both the IG-P and the AIG for the promotions.
