The Founding Brand Ambassador and Director General, Event Coordination of Africa Cinematography Festival, Judith Alakija, has stated that the festival is intended to act as a platform to turn young talents into professionals and to create a healthy environment for the entertainment industry.
Alakija stated this in Lagos at the inaugural media briefing of Africa Cinematography award held in Lagos.
She lamented that inadequate knowledge of the sector is the major challenge hindering the competitiveness of the Nigerian film making and entertainment industry on the global stage, promising that the festival will change the trend.
She said: “The gulf-like knowledge gap leaves our youths at a disadvantaged position which could threaten their future as entrepreneurs in the industry.
“Africa Cinematography Festival provides our youths across Nigeria and Africa a great future and self-employment opportunity. It provides all industry players and stakeholders, including you and I the platform for optimization of the inherent potentials and prospects of technological advancement in audio-visual, sound, light and still photo productions.”
Also, Folorunsho Alakija, the founding grand patron, Africa Cinematography Award, expressed satisfaction for a festival of that nature and she urged the youths to deploy their skills and energy towards it so that they can be meaningful to themselves and the society at large.
The Eagle Online reports that registration for the festival is expected to begin in the next two weeks while the festival will run for six days in November 2017.
