Adamawa to place LG salaries on front line charge

The Adamawa State Government is to place the salaries of local government workers on front line charge.
Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State on Thursday made this known while receiving the report on Local Government Staff Verification.
It will be recalled that a 13-man committee was set up in July 2015 to verify the state local government workforce with a view to creating a database for effective implementation of e-payment salary system.
Bindow said the front line charge would give priority to prompt payment of salaries of official council workers who hitherto suffered delay in payment of their salaries.
According to him, their salaries will henceforth be paid at the same time with the state government workers.
He appealed to the local government workers to remain patient as their four months outstanding salaries would be paid before the end of June.
He also vowed to prosecute any government official found to have committed financial misconduct in the local government administration.
Bindow directed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to furnish his office with details and updates on local government/state joint account.
While commending the committee for the comprehensive report presented to the state government, the governor expressed his commitment to implement it as quick as possible.
