Embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu is currently undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed sickness abroad.
This was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by Mu’azu’s Press Secretary, Tony Amadi.
Amadi pointed out that President Goodluck Jonathan is aware of the National Chairman’s medical treatment abroad.
Amadi, in the statement, explained however the PDP National Chairman “will return to the country as soon as his doctors are satisfied with his medical condition.”
But the Press Secretary did not disclose the country the PDP National Chairman is receiving treatment.
According to Amadi, “the leader of the party, President Goodluck Jonathan, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party Chief Tony Anenih and Senate President Senator David Mark and members of the National Working Committee of the party are all aware of the Chairman’s medical trip abroad.
“Dr. Mu’azu appealed to party faithfuls to be patient as the travails facing the party will soon wither away and the party will be a united opposition to the incoming All Progressives Congress for the overall good of Nigeria.”
Mu’azu, it would be recalled, was conspicuously absent last week at the inauguration of Senator Ike Ekweremadu-led PDP Post-Election Review Committee set up by the National Leadership of the party over the abysmal performance of PDP in the just concluded general elections.
The National Chairman and members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) were blamed for the party’s misfortune in the elections leading to calls from various quarters for their sack.
