The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has rescued a driver whose fully loaded truck overturned while trying to manoeuvre at a high speed.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, revealed this development in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos.
The statement was signed by Taofiq Adebayo, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA.
Bakare-Oki said the accident occurred near Second Gate, heading inward Mile 2 around 5pm.
He said that the fully loaded truck overturned while attempting to manoeuvre at high speed, and narrowly missed a black Toyota Jeep with registration number: AAA 144 GU.
The statement said: “The truck driver, who sustained severe injuries, was swiftly rescued by officers of LASTMA and taken to Apapa General Hospital for immediate medical attention.
“Throughout the rescue operation, police officers from Tin-Can Port were on hand to provide security and ensure the safety of those involved.

“The driver of the Toyota Jeep miraculously escaped unharmed, despite his vehicle nearly being crushed by the 40-foot container.
“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Response Unit, contacted immediately by the LASTMA rescue team led by Mr Hakeem Adeosun, provided additional support during the evacuation operation.”
Bakare-Oki extended his heartfelt sympathy to the injured truck driver and wished him a speedy recovery.
He stressed the need for truck drivers to exercise greater caution, reminding them of the critical importance of safety on the road, especially when transporting large and heavy loads.
“LASTMA remains committed to safeguarding all road users and will continue to enforce traffic laws to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he said.
