The outgoing Commissioner for Information and Communication in Plateau State, Barrister Olivia Dazyem, says Plateau State has remained the leading tourist destination for the country’s digital switch-over to local and international investors.
Dazyem dIsclosed this during the handing over ceremony at the Ministry for Information and Communication on Wednesday.
She expressed satisfaction with the level of support given her by the staff and media organizations.
She stated that a visit to the state Radio, PRTVC, will convince every one that Governor Jonah Jang did not relent in his efforts of joining the country’s digitalisation awareness campaign of the government.
“Plateau State is ready to switch-over to digital programming and the governor did not disappoint the Federal Government’s dateline,” she said.
Dazyem pointed out that present administration has also invested hugely in the transformation of Nigerian Standard newspapers, which will soon commence daily printing with e-library in the state.
Dazyem appreciated the support given her office by the good people of the state during the 10 months period she served in the information ministry.
She called on the staff and journalists in the state to support the incoming commissioner in moving the state forward.
Meanwhile, the new Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Othman, resumed work with an appeal to people not to overheat the polity.
Othman promised to continue the good work of his predecessor whom he said had contributed her quota.
He said: “I will take my time to study the handover note and improve on it.”
Othman promised that he will be as open as possible and partner with the Nigerian Union of Journalists in developing Plateau State.
