The General Manager of Dolphin FC of Port Harcourt, Joe Johnson, on Wednesdaycommended Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State for paying players’ sign on fees and salary arrears.
Players of the club were at the Rivers State Government House to protest over their unpaid allowances.
Johnson said: “His Excellency has graciously approved 100 per cent of 2012/2013 sign on fees.
“His Excellency will also sign the mandate.
“Mine is to just thank his Excellency and the good people of Rivers State for having the sympathy of our players who have been off and on over their unpaid sign on fees.
“I must thank his Excellency for doing it as usual.
“I cannot also forget to thank the Commissioner of Sports, Mr. Fred Igwe, who effortlessly pushed the papers through and today we are singing the song of victory.”
Johnson noted that incessant protests had affected the players who at one point were second on the league table.
The Dolphins are currently placed in the sixth position on the table, with 55 points from 37 matches so far played in the Glo Premier League.
